One of the best cures I find for getting over someone is to keep yourself as busy as (humanly) possible. So in keeping with that idea, I’ve managed to take on a new academic position at university, delve into a series of new fashion projects over the upcoming months, failing to manage hundreds of emails I receive a day, and writing more fashion and political content than I’ve ever done in my life. It’s exhausting, but it’s doing exactly what I wanted it to do – not allowing me to second guess decisions I made over the last few months, but instead to focus on the future and what I can do now. Unfortunately, because of this hectic lifestyle, my daily outfits typically consist of a big chunky cashmere sweater and coloured jeans with my big Mackage puffy jacket over top.
Occasionally, I’ll throw on something like this look, which was a good example of my de-facto school day outfit when the weather was a bit warmer. With seven and a half hours of class twice a week, there’s no way in hell that I’m putting on something rather ridiculous (and most likely uncomfortable), only to suffer throughout the day just to look extremely fashionable. One item that I adore that adds an instant pop of glitz to any outfit is this gorgeous Sandro top, which I purchased in France way back in August. If I dress up these days, it’s usually a statement piece like this shirt, or my spiked Jeffrey Campbell boots that create the pop in my outfit. There’s a time and a place for being avant-garde, and that time isn’t right now for me.
