Over the last few years, I’ve been paying a lot of attention to how dark and edgy my personal style has become. I don’t think I could pinpoint all of the specific influences behind why I dress the way I do today, but without a doubt, living in Montreal has had a significant influence over what I tend to wear on a daily basis. Spikes, studs, leather, metalics, colours, and lots of black often combine into some unique combination on a daily basis wihtout me putting much thought into it. However, the ability to fall so easily into this formula everyday made me wonder if I was stuck in a “style rut” per se. So as a challenge to myself, I wanted to see if I could nearly eliminate all of my typical influences – specifically, I wanted to try to create a more lady-like look with a lot more white (or bianco, as we say in Italian). Eliminating all colour from my outfits is not an option, so I decided to compromise with these white and multicoloured Rag & Bone pants that I find so difficult to wear. Not only are they extremely tight, but the multitude of colours sometimes make me more self-conscious than usual. Oh yeah, and a Mickey Mouse watch always adds an air of lightheartedness to any outfit versus my usual Michael Kors tank watch. Mickey Mouse was my favourite cartoon character as a little kid and still adds a necessary playfulness to my life these days.
