The last seven days have been beyond chaotic to say the least. After a quick jaunt to Ottawa last Wednesday followed by four days back in Montreal to pack up some things, I left life as I’ve known it for the last four years and moved to Toronto. It’s a temporary move, but it’s forced me to start building a new life in a new city all over again. I would be lying through my teeth if I said I didn’t favour Montreal over Toronto, so it’s been a difficult transition leaving the city that I’ve so fondly called my adopted home in recent years.

The tumultuous weather that has characterized this year’s spring in Montreal showed no signs of lessening last week, when these photos were taken. Normally, I would be balking and feeling sartorially challenged at the thought of coping with single-digit temperatures in mid-May. However, I’ve come to find that my recent purchase of this T by Alexander Wang neoprene skirt necessitates tights, unless I want to be gawked at while walking down the street (a 34” inseam isn’t always a good thing, especially with short skirts). It’s been a while since I was last in Paris, so it’s safe to assume that the inspiration of this look is derived from some nostalgia of my trip to France last August. Always looking to put my own spin on a look, I decided to modernize the typical Parisian look with my trusty Maison Martin Margiela x H&M wedges. I’m eager to get some more wear out of this beautiful neoprene skirt this summer, but without tights, I’m afraid it might seem like I’m suggesting a little too much. If you don’t see this skirt for the rest of the summer, I can guarantee it will make a strong comeback as soon as September rolls around.
