I swear, people only live out the cold, dreary winters here in Montreal in hopes of being rewarded with a hot summer, filled with an amazing festival season. For those who are not Canadian, you probably have never heard of Osheaga, a music festival that will be attracting the likes of The Black Keys, Wolfgang Gartner, Florence and the Machine, Madeon, and Justice (to name a few). Festival-wear is something that can be a little difficult to tackle for the fashionably inclined: you want to appear chic, yet embrace the trends associated with festival culture (read: Rayban Wayfarers, exposed shirts, denim cut-offs, etc.). Despite Osheaga beginning this Friday, I got to play around with my festival style a week early by attending Picnik Electronik this past weekend. Piknik Electronik is in its 10th season in Montreal (and just opened a location in Gatineau, across the river from Ottawa) and attracts a massive variety of electronic music artists who play all Sunday afternoon and evening at Parc Jean-Drapeau (you may remember a not-so-distant post about this park here). It’s fantastic to hop off the Island of Montreal, leave your worries and stress behind and instantly get swept up in the music, drinks, and atmosphere of this event. Have no fear though about missing out on the Montreal summer festival circuit – with both Osheaga AND Festival Mode & Design this week, you can bet there will lots of coverage on “I Bleed Fashion” about what’s hot and going on here in Montreal!
