Last Day of Summer

{9 Comments}

Jacket: Mackage // Tank and Shorts: Aritzia // Scarf: Alexander McQueen // Watch: Michael Kors // Ring: Gift from Italy // Shoes: Pedro Garcia // Bag: Fendi

There’s something very symbolic about the last day of summer before classes commence. It represents the last moments of pure freedom before we are thrown back into our fast-paced lives, and while the warm weather will still be with us for another month or so here in Montreal, September 1st marks the beginning of being serious again.

The Mackage leather jacket pictured above was one of the pieces I found at their sample sale here in Montreal (also where I found this fabulous sweater) in May, and I can honestly say it was my best impulse purchase. Have you ever purchased something impulsively and found it was worth the leap of faith? Did it take you a while to figure out how to wear the purchase or did you just know it was perfect for you? The quality of the leather, as always is fantastic, and I love how I feel like I could be some kind of sexy spy in it when I wear it with black pants and boots :D And as I’ve mentioned here, if you’re looking for a new leather jacket that will last you DECADES, Mackage is definitely a brand worth trying. To complete this look, I paired the jacket with these gorgeous silk shorts from Aritzia, which I’ve been obsessed with all summer and my “signature” McQueen scarf. I think by now most people know I adore mixing different fabrics and adore creating an outfit with a hard/soft aesthetic – personally, I feel like this look is one of the best examples that comprises both of these aspects.

Also, for the first time on this blog I’m debuting my Fendi bag and Pedro Garcia flats! I find the Fendi bag to be a little impractical because it doesn’t have a long shoulder strap, but it is definitely one of my favourite designer purses. As for the Pedro Garcia flats, they were originally mine a couple years ago until my mother wanted them, and now she’s given them back to me! Honestly girls, take a look in your mothers’ closets and see if you can swap clothes, shoes, and bags – it’s the best way to refresh your closet :) Do you swap clothes, bags, etc. with your mother, or do you both have very different styles that prevents this?

Thank you all so much for your continued support during these busy times I’m facing! As I have mentioned before, I will be interning at Montreal Fashion Week from September 6 – 9! You can follow all of my posts day by day at www.miss-sly.com and read my biography on her site here!

  4. Hiya, thank you for the roadtrip advices. I ended up not going up the Eifell Tower, it was rainy, and I was a bit tired, so we just walked around it.

  5. Those blue shorts are absolutely fabulous! I love how you've paired them with a black top and shoes, it really turns them into the vocal point of the outfit. Very simple, but very chic. Glad you got one last wear out of them before the autumn months set in. Thanks for sharing! Very glad I stumbled across your blog this afternoon!
